The development of micromobility and the creation of bicycle lanes in Nakhchivan were discussed.

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, involving relevant agencies, to discuss the development of modern urban transport, the expansion of micromobility options, and the creation of bicycle infrastructure in the city of Nakhchivan.
Representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, the State Agency of Automobile Roads, the Nakhchivan City Executive Power, the Nakhchivan State Technical College, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), and AYNA’s Nakhchivan Regional Department participated in the meeting.
During extensive and productive discussions, the creation of bicycle and scooter lanes and the design of relevant infrastructure on several avenues and streets in Nakhchivan city were examined in detail.
Particular attention was paid to the nature of micromobility, encouraging the public to use micromobility modes, the implementation and development of these services within the urban environment, and ensuring the safety of micromobility users. In addition, the existing road and transport infrastructure of Nakhchivan city, traffic intensity, and safety considerations were extensively discussed during the planning of the bicycle lanes.
Particular attention was paid to traffic congestion occurring during peak hours on certain central streets and avenues, the impact of bicycle lanes on general traffic flow, and the identification of necessary traffic management measures.
The primary objective of the meeting was to create a safe, convenient, and accessible urban environment for micromobility in Nakhchivan, expand alternative transport options, and ensure the efficient integration of cycling infrastructure with the city's existing transport system.
Based on the discussions, it was deemed appropriate to proceed with design work for the initially identified areas through the mutual cooperation of relevant agencies, while ensuring a comprehensive consideration of the city's transport and urban planning characteristics during the project development process. The development of micromobility in Nakhchivan is a key aspect of the measures being implemented to align urban transport with modern requirements, expand alternative mobility options, and create a more comfortable urban environment.
